C2C Tees are here :)

Today we picked up our C2C tees from Ffigar Sports in Aberystwyth. I can honestly say I am very pleased. The fit is great and the quality of the prints is fantastic too. Big thumbs up to our daughter Megan who created the "C2C" logo. Good job Meggy Moo :) :)

Torq'd to Jimmy and he told me to try these....

Went to see Jimmy @ Summit Cycles to discuss some additions to our nutrition supply for the C2C. We decided that we needed a few more bars to get us the 320 miles from Lowestoft back to sunny Aberystwyth. We had tried some Torq bars to check how palitable and more-ish they were. 3 days of eating the same energy foods could be a bit difficult to deal with so we've a selection to choose from.......... Thanks Jimmy :) :)

24 Torq Apricot
10 Torq Organic Mango
8 Torq Raspberry and Apple
18 Powerbar Ride Bars
1 Torq Pineapple and Ginger

Variety is the spice of life :)

Martyns Bike is "Conti-fied"

After some deliberation, planning and bit of hard work I have finally created a homage to one of our key sponsors for the C2C. I took the decision to decorate my bike for the C2C in Continental livery. I am undecided as to whether it is a work of art or an eyesore. Either way it will provide coverage for Shelley and his team who have helped and supported us on our fund-raising journey. Thanks Guys... I hope it's to your liking :)

C2C Route finalised.

Today has been spent finalising the route for our C2C. We have been working on tweeks to the route, to make it safe, yet direct. This means using a fair amount of "A Roads." The finalised legs will now be:

Day 1 - "Ness Point" Lowestoft to Kings Lynn - 120 Km.
Day 2 - Kings Lynn to Nottingham - 123 Km
Day 3 - Nottingham to Oswestry - 154Km (This is going to be the toughest day)
Day 4 - Oswestry to Aberystwyth - 109Km

Thanks to the kindness of Debbie Fitzgerald we now have a support driver. We will be heading over to hers on the 28th/29th ready to start the Journey on Monday morning (30th May) at approximately 8am. We are looking to complete each day in 8 hours giving us plenty of time for recovery each evening. We're looking forward to the prospect of completing this challenge and raising even more money for MWCRCF.

More traing for us both.. This is going to be a great experience. Thanks again for all your support everyone :)

2 Weeks and Counting........

Well here we are. It's been nearly 9 months since Sylvia and I decided to start this funraising adventure and the ride is soon upon us. Our training's been going well and we are increasing the miles ready for challenge. We leave from Lowestoft on Monday May 30th and will be arriving back in Aberystwyth on Thursday 2nd. Due to work and family commitments it's been a while since we managed to get out on a training ride together. Last Friday we managed a joint ride out to Machynlleth & Back I rode my Singlespeed to check out the ratio (50x16) ahead of the challenge. As part of my challenge (on top of the 320 miles) I will be completing the C2C on my Giant Singlespeed. As well as there being less to go wrong mechanically it'll make the C2C even more of a challenge.

We would like to thank Jimmy @ Summit Cycles who has agreed to help us with additional nutritional needs. We look forward to trying out the nice flavours from Torq ;)

3 weeks and counting..............

Well, it's been a quiet couple of months. We have been getting on quietly with our training for the C2C. Both Sylvia and I have been putting in the miles to prepare ourselves for the 4 day challenge that faces us at the end of the month. Nearly everythings now in place for the start. We are still sourcing a support vehicle due to issues with our original source. If anyone can help us out that would be amazing.

I recently took parting the Dyfi Enduro where I managed to finish 8th in the Luddite category and 75th overall. My bike set up was great and considering it was my first event on my new 29er Gary Fisher Ferrous, I out performed my expectations. The first time I have ridden a rigid, singlespeed Mountain Bike in my 6th Dyfi Enduro.

3 weeks to go..... we'll keep you updated :)

Valentines Dinner & Beyond

Well firstly we would like to thank all who came to the Marine hotel on Saturday 12th for what was a fantastic night. The food was great, the music (from Aber-Jazz) was uplifting and your generosity was overwhelming. Good times were had by all and it was great seeing some of you, and catching up. The Prize draw went swimmingly, albeit a little embarrassing as the majority of the winners weren't at the night (most of which were hospital employees)

A week on an we've now met with Shelley & Brodie at Continental. They have very kindly kitted us out "top to toe" in Continental kit. Our bikes are now running on fresh Continental Sports Contact 26x1.3s, one of , if not the best commuter/slick Mtb tyre on the market. My last pair managed over 6000 miles without a single puncture. The Conti Sports contact even comes with a 1 year "anti puncture guarantee," a nice bit of piece of mind when going the 320 miles from Lowestoft back to Aberystwyth.

Our trainings ramping up slightly now. I'm completing over 100 miles a week where possible (this weeks a rest week - thank god) and Sylvia is completing longer and higher effort Turbo sessions. Thanks to the guys at Conti her Turbo training will become quieter and more effective as she now has a fresh Conti home trainer tyre 26x1.75 fitted to her specialized.

The Time trial season is fast approaching and I have some challenges ahead. More of this to follow. :)
